After Midnight is one of Winnipeg's most versatile and professional wedding and corporate/event bands.  

After Midnight has been providing top quality musical entertainment for wedding receptions and other corporate events for over 30 years.  They have literally played at hundreds of weddings over the years, across Manitoba and Saskatchewan.  One thing that they have learned is that every wedding is special and unique, and this uniqueness should be celebrated. After Midnight relishes the opportunity to be an important and pivotal role on your wedding day and will ensure they help to create lasting memories and moments to look back on.  Booking a band for a wedding provides a very different dynamic when compared to booking a DJ.  If you want to make your wedding a truly memorable experience, incorporate live entertainment as a part of your wedding day. 

After Midnight will work hard all night to make sure that the dance floor is never empty.  We have the experience to know what to play, and when to play it.  The energy will gain momentum as the night continues, nothing please us more than hearing "One more song" chanted at the end of the night.


Frequently Asked Questions

How much will the band play during the night?

After Midnight generally uses 9:00PM as a start time, although, we will be flexible based on your wedding day schedule of events.  We will play three 1 hour sets of music, with two half-hour breaks in between.  After Midnight will do their best to time their breaks with your late lunch or speeches so the breaks go mostly unnoticed.  We will then play the night away until 1:00 am.

What will the band wear for the night?

After Midnight will dress just as your guests will as they are wedding guests themselves. Formal attire. 

How far in advance do you book?

Most of our weddings are booked a year in advance, sometimes there are gaps in our schedule if you need something sooner.  Contact us and we will let you know!

Will you learn music for our wedding?

After Midnight is happy to learn any special songs you might have in mind for your first dance, father/daughter and/or bridal party dance(s). Should the song not be up to our impeccable standards, we will advise you well in advance of your big day.

Can you play a little bit of ethnic music at our wedding?

With some advance notice, After Midnight would be happy to incorporate some ethnic music of your choosing as we embrace the cultural diversity of our great city. We will ask you to be specific in regards to the songs you’d like to hear and may require you to provide us with the audio tracks as a part of our preparation. 

Do you change musicians frequently?

Some wedding bands use a rotation of musicians at the ready.  After Midnight uses the same lineup to ensure we are bringing you the best show we can.

How is your cost so low compared to some of the other wedding/event bands in Winnipeg?

We understand that many people would love to have live entertainment as a part of their special occasion they just don’t have the budget to make it happen. With costs of flowers, venue rentals, food, party favors, linens, cakes and desserts, it becomes difficult to ensure there is money left over for entertainment. After Midnight consists of 5 professional musicians with immense and varied experience whose collective goal is to provide you with high-level entertainment for a lower price than what you would normally expect a wedding and/or event band in Winnipeg to charge. This way everyone can have the opportunity to incorporate amazing entertainment into their special day. 

What about music during your breaks?

We are not a DJ service, but we do have appropriate dance music to play between sets.  The music is usually pre-planned, so if there were songs that you wanted to hear, you would need to let us know in advance.

Are there any additional costs?

After Midnight’s only additional cost is dinner at the wedding/event.  We do not necessarily need to eat with your guests and can work something out that might be more appropriate for your event if space is limited or if plating costs are high. We provide our own p.a. system and light show, and are responsible for our own set up and tear down with no additional charge. All we require is some nourishment as our days are long.

What time do you arrive at the venue?

We like to setup and sound check before anyone arrives at wedding, usually 2-3 hours before your cocktail hour is scheduled to begin.

When considering what kind of live entertainment you desire, there are a few things to keep in mind.  You can take your chance with a band that does not usually play weddings, many of which play the bar circuit on a regular basis. An unexperienced band can clear a room pretty quickly.  Wedding bands are experienced at entertaining people aged 1-99, and have a set list to accommodate that kind of variety. Bar bands tend to have limited set lists and the nature of their music is often geared to a specific population as opposed to the variety After Midnight prides itself on. Wedding bands are also accustomed to playing longer sets with fewer breaks.
